Group f11
In 2008 three photographers, starting out on their careers, decided to keep in contact through a blog page in which they could share ideas, post images and ask each other advice. This has since mutated into a web space where those photographers still meet, but so too do their students and other like-minded photographers.

My best sale
In response to Emil's post last year of his best sale, I have posted this shot. It was sold RM on Alamy with the following use:
Country: Europe
Usage: Direct Mail/Brochures
Media: Catalog
Industry: Cars/Commercial Vehicles
Sub-Industry: Car companies
Print run: up to 500,000
Placement: Front Cover
Image Size: 1/4 page
Start: Thursday, October 30, 2008
End: Sunday, October 30, 2011
After commission I made R15,500.
While I did wait for the clouds to enter the sky to add some interest, it is essentially a snap, but one which I knew to take because I am slowly learning what is and what is not commerically viable.
Neil.

Very nice mate! Now if only we could all make a sale like that once a month :)

I like the on-the-road/journey feel of the pic. Kinda like a 'Going Nowhere Slowy' idea. It's nice.
I can see the light shining down from the sky .... hell I can even see the angels if I squint (okay...maybe not in Neil's image!). I think Neil has helped us to arrive... with his visionary statement: "I am leaning ... what is and what is not commercially viable". This is the key I believe. After all photography is primarily about seeing, and helping people to see and this includes 'seeing' what the market wants. Nice shot - Glad you stopped?
Paul.
Once a year I think the top single image earner should treat the group to dinner. I think 2008 went to Emil. So far Neil is in the lead.
Agree? (preferable) Or disagree? (tightass)
Paul
Typical journalist, humorously misquoting "visionary statements" - you'll go far!
Neil ;-)
Does this mean I missed last year (phew). If not you're going to have to come and visit Durban to get that meal off me ;)

My image sold in 2008 too!
Neil.
