Group f11

In 2008 three photographers, starting out on their careers, decided to keep in contact through a blog page in which they could share ideas, post images and ask each other advice. This has since mutated into a web space where those photographers still meet, but so too do their students and other like-minded photographers.

If anybody would like to join all you need to do is email the blog administrator, Emil

Blurred Images

Noting Emil's reference to Alain Briot's 'blurred work' I thought I would post this image for comment. Vertical camera movement during a longish exposure - a very simple technique.

Hi Neil

I love this shot. I have since I first saw it on your site. I've been tryuing to do the same thing for ages and can just never get it quite right. Thumbs up on this one!

Loath as I am to admit it, and this is a threshold moment for me, I really like this shot too. As you say Neil " a very simple technique". Simple perhaps but as Emil notes not so easy to execute. I think with these sorts of shots, the skill is about seeing, knowing what will 'work' well with this technique. Yes, that kinda sums up photography but how many times have we all been watching someone taking a photograph (or been watched!) and wondered what the hell are they taking a picture of? They see and we do not. Nice one Neil, thanks for helping us to see!

Thanks for all the positive comments. I actually shot it coming back from E&J's wedding! Pulled over near a plantation of blue gums and I just thought I would give this technique a go. Beginners luck I'm sure ...
